I believe that people who use food as a crutch and a coping mechanism, aren't that different from those who use drugs, alcohol and sex to numb themselves. You can just tell by looking at us what our vice is. Chocolate covered almonds are my kryptonite, blogging is my therapy.

Main Street Cellar - Manotick
There was a time when going to a restaurant like Main Street Cellar would have stressed me out to no end. To me, these flavours and pairings are.....well.....for a sheltered Newfie, they are kinda fancy. I would have been afraid to accept an invitation to go there for fear I wouldn't like anything, or that their menu would be too weird.
Not anymore!!!
To start: warm bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese
For him: grilled pork tenderloin with poached pear compote, potatoes and market vegetables
For me: goat cheese stuffed pasta with an apple curry sauce
For dessert: peanut butter mousse pie with oreo crust
Food so good I did a little chair dance, and nearly cried. Who am I!?!?! No seriously, I am the girl who used to think of things like pesto and red pepper jelly as exotic and too refined for my taste palette. And compared to Chef Boyardee, Kraft Dinner and hot dogs, they are.
You think there is no good food here in Ottawa?
Psssh. You obviously haven't been here.
Perfect date night.
Go and check it out.
You can thank me later.

I'm still going to get you to like onions one of these days. Were going to slowly reverse that list of yours from "foods I dont like" to "I love all foods"..;0)
